The plastic surgery of the nose or aesthetic rhinoplasty, allows to correct some nasal defects, either for purely aesthetic reasons (aquiline nose, thick tip, wide nasal wings), or for treatment of problems that affect the function such as deviation of the nasal septum, growth of turbinates, which cause breathing difficulties or snoring.
Plastic nose surgery. Techniques used:
- Scraped off: Resection of giba or hump, gibectomy (bone filing): This technique is used to file a protrusion of nasal DORSO, and thus obtain a straight profile of the nose.
- Spacer grafts: Strips of cartilage are placed between the septum, to align the back and widen the nasal valve.
- Head Resection: A part of cartilage is removed to reduce the volume.
- Sutures: The shape of the nose can also be modified by placing different sutures, without the need to remove, or graft any type of tissue, for example to raise the nasal tip.

- Grafts at the tip: The patient's own cartilage is used to refine, define, rotate and correct the tip or lengthen the nose. There are many novel techniques to achieve this.
- Nasal wing trimming: It is used to reduce the width of the nasal base, by removing a piece of skin and tissue.
- Grafts to give volume: They are pieces of cartilage that are placed at the junction of the nose with the upper lip, or on the very low nasal bridge (union of the nose with the forehead).
- Graft of septal extension: Cartilage to increase support in thick skin, or mixed race nose.
